Clinical Research Investigator
GCP guidelines define an investigator as “A person responsible for the conduct of the clinical trial at a trial site. If a trial is conducted by a team of individuals at a trial site, the investigator is the responsible leader of the team and may be called the principal investigator.”
Many investigators do not realize that they need training before undertaking the manifold responsibilities of an investigator. However, they should seriously consider the risks of not being adequately trained.
When conducting clinical trials in the UK it is especially important that investigators know UK law in particular SI 1031 and subsequent amendments. If you are not fully conversant with these regulations you should be. Serious breaches of the law , particularly those that endanger patient safety, may result in you going to prison. If in doubt get some training.
If you do not have the time or the budget to attend classroom based learning courses why not consider elearning. Suitable courses are available fat relatively low cost that can be done when and where it suits you.
